Hell(o),

I was referred to this website by a very good friend who's had great success on the Cycle diet. I expressed my concerns about getting and finding health information on the Internet and have been amazed at the amount of quality information here . Thank you Debra for putting so much great information about PMDD and how it relates to other disorders. I've been having a very hard time with my cycle and started on the diet via the website and help from Traci but I'm still having horrible symptoms during the 2 weeks up to my period. Traci convinced me to read the introductions of some of the women who've been brave enough to describe their symptoms and family histories and like being hit over the head with baseball bat it never occurred to me that all the digestive issues ( I've been diagnosed with IBS) and family history of Crohn's and osteoporosis could also be affecting my hormones and mood.

As I look back over the years of pain and cramping, diarrhea and excruciating constipation, after the antidepressants and Imodium I finally feel like I've found a possible answer. I've ordered the gluten and dairy tests from enterolabs and am now ready to start the gluten free diet plan.

My question to you Debra is do I have to wait until my lab results come back to order the consult and workbook? I'm very anxious to get started, if this is the answer to my problems I'm ready to go as soon as possible.

Welcome to the Cycle Diet Support board Ruth!

Yes, Traci mentioned in her blog you were thinking about joining us here, and I'm very glad to see you did. Please give me a call at (515) 221-0236 and we will get started right away.  Good for you for ordering the gluten and dairy tests already. I usually have to push for women to do antigliadin and casein testing before they remove gluten and dairy from their diet.  We can get started right away if you'd like, we don't have to wait until your results come in. Knowing you've got that end of things done already really helps. Now the other questions I have for you...

You mention your family history of Crohn's, have you also been tested for Crohn's as well, these conditions seem to run in the family?  We can talk about this when you call, but I hope you also have a good PCP you trust to discuss whatever improvements in possible abnormal recent blood tests as well.

Have you also had any other autoimmune testing done? Many times these conditions run in families but manifest into "Other" autoimmune problems and diseases.

I also advise you to read through these forums here regarding:

Autoimmune diseases

IBS and IBD

Study shows Milk bacteria causes Crohn's

Talk with you soon.

Yes, I've been tested for Crohn's but tested negative, which is why I guess they gave me the IBS diagnosis. I like my primary doctor, but my GI doctor isn't what I would call attentive when it comes to my "other female issues" ;) basically all he's ever suggested is extra fiber for the constipation and Zoloft for the depression.  I have a feeling I react to gluten and have already cut back on the obvious bread, cookies, cake, but I'm going to need help with all the rest.

Thanks for the articles and links, looks like I have some reading ahead of me.

Hi all, Hi Deb,

I have been on the gluten-free cycle diet for just about over a year now and wanted to come back and say THANK YOU! I've been PMS free for almost a year, after a few slip ups here and there. My doctor and gyn are amazed at my improvements and encouraged me to stay with the diet if it made me feel better. All I can say is this diet was a God send at the time when I needed it most. My GI doc has updated my IBS diagnosis to Gluten intolerant from the improvements on my serum ferritin levels so I guess that gets me the right to insist on gluten free food at family get to gethers. The more I learn about gluten and the way it makes me feel I know I need to avoid it to feel good. I've learned when I slip up, mostly during the holidays or vacation if I eat something I feel depressed and angry almost immediately. All those black clouds come rolling back.  I'm back with the program again for the new year looking to drop a few pounds.

Deb I may restart my blog if that's okay.
